Breaking News Nicole Kidman can actually perspire
What got Nicole Kidman all hot sweaty and panting this weekend
The Oscar-winning actress, pregnant with her first child, did Tevia Celli's spin class two days in a row -- Saturday and Sunday -- at Body and Soul gym on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood.
It's hard to imagine the pale-skinned, flawlessly pulled together fashion icon rocking out on a spin bike to hip-hop, U2 and Alanis Morrissette. But there she was...
On both days, Kidman sat on a bike in the back row wearing black pants and a white T, her long blond hair pulled back in a bun. While she's not a serious spinner, observers say that she worked out hard, kept a good pace, drank a lot of bottled water and used a towel to wipe the sweat off her face several times during both hourlong spins. She was accompanied to both classes by a short, red-haired woman, who spun on the bike next to her.
"Nicole tends to keep her head down when she spins which isn't advised because it's bad posture that cuts off your airway and lessens your oxygen intake," said one spinner. "But if she keeps coming to Tevia's class, she'll learn good posture on the bike, which keeps your core engaged and your diaphragm open."
Kidman is among several fit celebs who regularly spin at Body and Soul, including Jodie Foster and "Dancing with the Stars" alum Lisa Rinna. But Nic's not been seen at class since last year, before she announced that she was pregnant. Body and Soul has several pregnant women who have continued to take class throughout a their pregnancies, some until a few days before they give birth.
"Spinning is a great exercise for pregnant women because they can get their heart rates up and get a good aerobic workout without stressing out the fetus with high impact activity," says Celli of her expectant spinners.
Will Kidman be on the bike on Memorial Day for Body and Soul's 90-minute charity spin to raise money for Beyond Shelter, an organization that helps get homeless families off the streets?
